Noise Downstairs? We Said No. He said Yes.

Loud Laughter. A reason to be harassed and chastised? Loud Laughter?

Imagine being asked if you hear noise. Despite the fact I (and others) reported noise for years, which always fell on deaf ears. Now that the noise bothers Ross, he wrote us for verification.

HOW many times did he write, in such detail, insisting on HIS outcome? Reading this, does he come across rather impatient and insistent? Demanding. Petulant. Bullying. Harassing us to comply with what HE wants us to write.

My roommate Julie and I discussed this. We never heard it.

We each wrote NO. Ross takes that to be a Yes.

Why did he bother us, if he knew the outcome? Fair and impartial. Not.

“It’s a tenant’s responsibility to notify us about issues in their unit. It’s really none if your business what occurs in another unit unless you’re aware of a dire energency.”

[WHY did he write my roommate and I, asking about NOISE downstairs? NOT an issue in our apt. HE wanted US to LIE to substantiate his complaint. He tells us to answer “yes.” Not yes or no.]

How can he guarantee we won’t get ‘any blowback’? What kind of protection is he offering us? None. Never.

He does not care about noise which is disturbing others. ONLY what disturbs him. Otherwise, that chirping, squeaking probably defective smoke detector or whatever is chirping every 30 or so seconds would be fixed.

Just found reference to #8, but three (3) years earlier. Playing loud music around 2 am. Ross never got back to me. They were still noisy at times.

Plus #19. He doesn’t see nor hear it. Judy Smith #21, Maria and family, #9, downstairs under #19, and I, #18. My bed is next to their kitchen. Thin wall.

Kept up late cos of #19. He always throws his hands up in the air. Says not much he can do about it. Maybe drop them a note. I gave up and stay up. So much for OUTRAGEOUS NOISE.

If Ross doesn’t hear it, it doesn’t exist. IF he hears it, you are his hit list.

Hi Jenny & Julie,

Please let me know if the subject annoys & disturbs you & Julie; a simple “yes” will suffice.

[He’s TELLING us what to say: Yes. How would you feel if you were in our shoes?]

Your March rent check was properly written.

Thanks,

I’m in back room. Don’t hear #8 in front.

Thank you, glad I wrote correct year.

If Julie was in her unit, I’m sure it bothered her, so say yes anyway.

[WHY ask us if ROSS decided to say Yes.  OK to CHANGE our statements? Really?]

it’s only one of the male tenants and his friends and you won’t get any blowback from him.

Julie,

You might not have been in your room at the time this outrageous noise occurred yesterday.

[We BOTH were home. It was daytime. Julie didn’t hear anything downstairs. I often walk to the kitchen to get water. I didn’t hear anything. I’ve heard VERY noisy neighbors downstairs. Not them! They were quiet students from China.]

Our leases specifically prohibit “anything” (usually unnecessary noise) that annoys or disturbs other residents; it disturbed and annoyed me because I heard it in my office which faces Virginia Avenue; and I’m a resident too.

I diligently enforce this lease provision because I know other residents also are affected.

[NO way. Ask Judy Smith, #21 or Maria and her family #9. We heard very noisy Chinese students constantly running up and down the stairs and large noisy gatherings around the clock. We repeatedly reported it to Ross. He did … nothing!]

[We can’t begin to tell you how many times we reported when there was noise. But IF Ross doesn’t hear it, doesn’t exist. Like the suspected chirping defective smoke detector.]

And it’s OK to say yes we’re being annoyed & disturbed; the names of complaining residents won’t be revealed to the noisy residents because I always remind them I’m annoyed & disturbed too & acting on behalf of other residents.

[Oh thank you Ross for giving two adult women the “OK to say yes!” How did we live without YOUR guidance? I don’t know how I managed to do all I’ve done without Ross passing judgment and telling US what to do. This is so upsetting … and these are ONLY a FEW of many dozens and dozens of similar emails.]

Thanks,

LOOK AT THIS: He IGNORED MY report #8, 3 years earlier. See? If Ross doesn’t hear it, it doesn’t exist. IF he hears it, you are his hit list.

PS I think apt 8 is playing loud music til about 2 or 3 am. I don’t think it’s 19. Sometimes I read in bed til they are quiet. Another reason I’m up so late. I can’t get to sleep. Not all the time, but I sure heard it last night.
